Energy Conservation Project for ACLAMO Family Center - Norristown, PA

ACLAMO’s Norristown Family Center building was built in the 1920’s as a branch bank. It has no roof insulation and has single-glazed and leaky windows and entry doors.

Brian Billings Architects designed this comprehensive energy conservation project, which will utilize part of the roof area of the building to install a 10 kilowatt solar photovoltaic array. The solar PV system will generate more than 25% of ACLAMO’s electrical consumption.

The project will also replace the old windows, add interior storms to the plate glass windows on the historic façade, replace the leaky entry doors and add blown-in fiberglass insulation in the roof. A new Cool Roof will further reduce cooling loads, in conjunction with R-38 roof insulation.

Based upon our analysis of energy usage over prior years, this project is expected to offset more than 30% of total building energy usage.
